Inauguration of Camp for the Distribution of Free Assistive Devices for the Differently Abled in Palakkad district

The inauguration of the camp for the distribution of free assistive devices to differently-abled individuals in Palakkad district, organised by the  Central Government Institutions National Career Center for Differently Abled (NCS DA) in Thiruvananthapuram, along with the Central Government Miniratna Company ALIMCO in Bangalore, MLAs from various constituencies, Block Panchayats, and the voluntary organization CUBES EDUCARE FOUNDATION - COCHIN  was held on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at Vaniyamkulam TRK Higher Secondary School.

The camp's inauguration was conducted by Palakkad MP, Shri. V K Sreekantan, who initiated the distribution of assistive devices. The event received further prominence with the presence of notable figures, including Palakkad District Panchayat Vice President Shri. C K Chamunni, Vaniyamkulam Gram Panchayat President Shri. K Gangadharan, Alimco Officer Shri. Litan Sarkar, Social Security Mission Coordinator Shri. Moosa Patil, Vaniyamkulam Gram Panchayat Member Smt. K. Asha Devi, Career Guidance and Counseling Cell District Coordinator Shri. Sanu Sugathan, Cubes Educare Foundation Trustee Shri. Anoop Sadan, National Career Center for Disabled representative Shri. Dhanesh KP and Shri. Khader Moiteen, all of whom shared their insights during the event.

The assistive devices distributed in the camp, which included tricycles, crutches, walking sticks, rollators, hearing aids, smartphones, braille kits, wheelchairs, artificial legs etc., were manufactured by ALIMCO Bangalore, a central government organization. These devices, valued at 28,43,000 rupees (28 lakh 43 thousand rupees), were distributed to 362 differently-abled beneficiaries from Palakkad district, thus fulfilling a significant need within the community.
