Free Assistive Equipment Distribution Camp for Differently Abled Individuals Inaugurated in Kozhikode District

In a commendable effort to empower differently abled individuals, a Free Assistive Equipment Distribution Camp was inaugurated in Kozhikode district on August 6, 2023. The event took place at the Kundamangalam Block Panchayat Open Stage and aimed to provide essential assistive devices to enhance the mobility and daily lives of individuals with disabilities.

The inauguration of the camp was performed by Kundamangalam MLA, Shri P. T. A. Rahim. The function was presided over by Kundamangalam Block Panchayat President, T. P. Madhavan. Dignitaries including Kunnamangalam Gram Panchayat President, Mrs. Liji Pulikunvinmal, Perumanna Gram Panchayat President, Shri. Shaji Puthalath, District Panchayat Member, Rajeev Perumanpura, ULCC S Foundation Director, Dr. M. K Jayaraj, Alimco Bangalore Deputy Manager, Shri. Ashok Kumar Pal, Deputy Manager - Marketing, Mr. A. Sivakumar, and Cubes Edu-Care Foundation trustees, Anoop Sadan and Sanu Sugathan, shared their insights on the occasion.

A total of 1180 applications were received for assistive equipment, out of which 821 candidates were selected through selection camps held from March 21 to 27, 2023. The distribution included devices such as tricycles, crutches, walking sticks, rollators, hearing aids, smartphones, braille kits, and wheelchairs. The equipment, valued at Rs. 64,55,694, was manufactured by ALIMCO Bangalore, a central government organization.

Following the successful launch, the distribution continued with scheduled camps across the district:

- August 7: Madithat Hall, Vadakara Nadapuram Road

- August 8: Balussery Block Panchayat Hall

- August 9: Variani Bhavan, Koodaranji Mukkam Road

This impactful project was made possible through a joint collaboration involving the National Career Service Center Thiruvananthapuram, a central government agency, Cubes Edu-Care Foundation, a voluntary organization, and MLAs from various constituencies in Kozhikode district. This united effort demonstrated the commitment to improving the quality of life for differently abled individuals.

The Free Assistive Equipment Distribution Camp in Kozhikode district serves as a beacon of hope and progress for the differently abled community. By providing essential devices and support, the initiative is a testament to the power of collective action in fostering inclusivity and empowerment.
